Well it seems like only yesterday that we were wishing you all a joyous Christmas and a happy New Year and now here we are welcoming you all back to Ngarrpadla for our first home league game for Season 2023.
This year promises to be a massive year for the club as we look to celebrate our 120th year as a football club.
We have a number of events planned for the year so stay tuned.
As always we welcome the travelling Players, Officials and Supporters of our Western rivals Vipers F.C to Ngarrpadla and we look forward to seeking redemption for you guys knocking us out of the cup two weeks ago 😉
We trust you will enjoy the hospitality and the friendly banter.
It's been a very big preseason for our lads with a number of retirements and the usual movement of players in the off season.
It will be strange not seeing the number 5 of James Skeffington or the number 7 of James Coley running out on to the pitch but with those 2 lads never far away we look forward to seeing the next crop of Pirates coming through.
With the retirement of Club Captain Skeff it was time to pass the baton on to the next leader and we are delighted to announce to Championship winning Club Champion Mitch Anderson will lead the side in 2023.
Outgoing Captain James Skeffington (left) with incoming Captain Mitch Anderson (right)
Mitchy is a Pirates Junior who has come through the ranks and is a fantastic role model to not only the younger players in the squad but also our juniors who are looking to emulate his achievements.
As most of you would be aware we got off to an absolute flyer in Round 1 with one of the most entertaining contest's we've seen as we took the 3 points away from out jaunt down to Eastern United.
Reappointed Head Coach Steven Hughes has put together a really strong squad with a mixture of youth and experience, old and new and all with a hunger for success which matches our coaches hunger.
We would also like to welcome Joe Allison as Reserves Coach and Isaac Sesay as Under 18 Coach and wish them all the successes they desire.
Off the park has been as busy as ever and it would be remiss of me not to give a massive thankyou to two of our Executive Comittee who have vacated their roles since last October's AGM.
Both Adrian Calleja and Shannon Anderson have played a massive part in the rejuvenation of our club in the last few years and we wholeheartedly thank them for their commitment, passion and tireless efforts.
I could go on talking forever but I want to make sure you have time to grab yourself a cool drink and some hot food before you settle in to watch some top quality State League 1 football.
Finally I would like to thank all our Players, Officials, Sponsors, Supporters and Volunteers who all contribute so much to making our club such a great club.
Yours loyally

~ Senior Coach Report ~
Hello and welcome to Taperoo Reserve for our first home game of the 2023 State League 1 season.
Today we host Vipers FC in this Rd 2 fixture, they kicked off their season last week with a 2-2 draw against Para Hills.
I’d like to welcome Maged and all his players, coaching staff and Vipers supporters to our club today and of course all the Pirates supporters who we will be hoping to send home happy when the final whistle blows!
Having only played Vipers 2 weeks ago in the Australia Cup today promises to be another entertaining game and one we are hoping to come out on top unlike the cup game where the Vipers progressed to the next round with a 2-1 win.
We wish them all the best in the next round.
After the disappointment of going out of the cup our boys showed great character last week to take home the 3 points in our Rd 1 match vs Eastern Utd, running out 5-3 winners. There were many good performances from our Pirates players on the day and to have 5 different goal scorers really shows how much of a team effort it was so congratulations to all the players who were part of this win.
New club captain Mitch Anderson got us off to a great start with our first goal before new signing Nas Mohamadou doubled our advantage right on half time. Soon after the restart another new signing in Lochie Czapla scored a great solo goal running nearly the length of the field before finishing nicely despite being under plenty of pressure from an opposition defender. Eastern got themselves back into the game with 2 quick goals before Paul Pavlou played a nice one two (off the defenders face!) before calmly side footing past the keeper to give us a little breathing space. Unfortunately that wouldn’t last long as Eastern scored again to make things more interesting than we hoped for but the boys dug deep to keep them at bay before Hamish Alderson-Darling sealed the win with a tap in at the back post tap in the final minutes after great work from Nathaniel Doyle down the right hand side who was also making his league debut for the club.
All in all there were a lot of positives to take out of the game and the boys are now eager to add to our points tally and seek some revenge on Vipers for our cup defeat of 2 weeks ago!
Before I finish I’d like to invite Maged and his Vipers team into the club for a drink and bite to eat after the match.
